“I Will Give You Rest”

In the book of Matthew, chapter 11 verse 28, Jesus says “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Even though it goes against just about everything that “life” has tried to teach me, slowly I am learning that rest, true rest is found in …
Christ-awareness not self-awareness,
Christ-centeredness not self-centeredness,
Christ-confidence not self-confidence,
Christ-consciousness not self-consciousness,
Christ-actualization not self-actualization,
Christ-advancement not self-advancement,
Christ-control not self-control,
Christ-discipline not self-discipline,
Christ-esteem not self-esteem,
Christ-fulfillment not self-fulfillment,
Christ-reliance not self-reliance,
Christ-motivation not self-motivation,
Christ-assurance not self-assurance,
Christ-affirmation not self-affirmation,
Christ-serving not self-serving,
Christ’s righteousness not self-righteousness,
being Christ-sustained not self-sustained, and
(as strange as it sounds) “Christ-ishness” – the polar opposite of my selfishness.
(Philippians 2:1-11)
